2 Wisconsin men face felony drug charges

When authorities receive information about the possible presence of unlawful activity, they have a duty to further investigate the matter. In some cases, investigations into drug-related activity may begin with little more than the words of another party. An investigation that began under similar circumstances in Wisconsin has reportedly left two individuals facing felony drug charges.

Investigation into drug activity

The investigation reportedly began after authorities say they received information about the possible presence of drug activity nearby. They claim that an unspecified source was subsequently able to set up a controlled buy of a pound of marijuana. This party allegedly followed a man to his home nearby and claims to have spotted large quantities of marijuana within the residence.

Law enforcement agents say that while the investigation was still underway, the man allegedly became the subject of a routine traffic stop. He was placed under arrest after authorities say they found him to be in possession of a firearm as a convicted felon. Reports indicate this ultimately led to the execution of a search warrant at his home, which authorities say led to the discovery of substances ranging from marijuana and fentanyl to oxycodone tablets.

Felony drug charges

Both the man and another individual at the residence are currently facing numerous felony drug charges in relation to the investigation. Individuals who stand accused of involvement in such activity might not always fully understand their legal rights or know where to turn for guidance on their available options. When facing a similar situation, a person in Wisconsin might find it helpful to retain the services of an attorney as soon as possible for advice on what to expect and on the best course of action with which to proceed.
