Claims of excessive ephedrine purchases prompts investigation

It might not be uncommon for authorities to keep a constant watch over the purchase of certain types of medications, especially if these are active ingredients in illegal substances. Should records indicate that one party is amassing large quantities of such medications, such activity may appear suspicious in nature. An investigation that began under similar circumstances has reportedly left a woman facing numerous drug charges in Wisconsin.

Investigation into drug activity

Authorities assert that the incident began after they discovered the woman had begun purchasing large amounts of ephedrine, which is an ingredient in the manufacturing of methamphetamine. They advised that there is a limit on how much of this medication a person can legally purchase within a set period. They claim that in addition to seeking out the product on her own, she was also culpable of using personal connections to carry out additional purchases.

The investigation proceeded to lead to a search of the trash outside the woman’s residence and a traffic stop nearly two months later. During the stop, she allegedly consented to a search of the vehicle and admitted to purchasing large quantities of ephedrine. She also admitted to asking others to help her in this endeavor, but she denied using the substance to manufacture methamphetamine. Reports indicate that she is now facing numerous drug-related charges in relation to the investigation.

Where to turn for advice

Individuals who face drug charges might not always know how best to respond to allegations and they might even be uncertain of where to turn for guidance on their available options. Fortunately, there are attorneys who can evaluate the charges and evidence against a person in Wisconsin and provide insight on the best course of action with which to proceed. Such guidance could play a vital role in helping a person understand what to expect from the process and make informed decisions while preparing a strategy for subsequent legal proceedings.
