Investigation leaves Wisconsin woman facing fraud charges

It might not be uncommon for individuals who become incapable to carrying out certain tasks to seek assistance in these matters from another party. While helping someone perform vital tasks can be rewarding at times, should allegations arise of unlawful behavior, an investigation into the matter could bring about dire repercussions. A woman in Wisconsin is reportedly facing fraud charges following a recent investigation into discrepancies in the financial records of an elderly woman.

Fraud investigation

According to reports, the incident began when a woman began helping an elderly individual perform tasks such as carrying groceries and doing yardwork. Reports indicate that the relationship between the two carried on for nearly 15 years and that the woman eventually started helping the other person with tasks such as paying monthly bills. However, others say they started to suspect that the woman was taking advantage of her and after reaching out to a social worker, an investigation was initiated.

During the investigation, authorities claim to have uncovered evidence of various fraudulent actions. They say the woman wrote checks to herself from the other party’s accounts on various occasions, and even claimed to have power of attorney responsibilities while selling certain items belonging to the other. She is accused of obtaining more than $200,000 from the other via fraudulent activity and is now facing numerous charges in relation to the investigation.
