Overdose leads to allegations of drug crimes for 2 in Wisconsin

Being accused of involvement in drug activity can be intimidating, and a conviction for such offenses carries serious consequences. When a fatal overdose is involved, the penalties for drug crimes may only increase in severity. A father and son are reportedly facing multiple charges following the death of a 33-year-old woman who authorities claim succumbed to a heroin overdose in Wisconsin.

Authorities assert the incident began when they received reports of a possible heroin overdose at a local residence. Upon arriving at the scene, they claim they found a man attempting to resuscitate his wife. Emergency responders rushed the woman to a medical facility for treatment, but she was pronounced dead the next day.

While questioning the man about the incident, police claim he admitted that he and his wife had snorted heroin together after he arrived home from work. Authorities performed a search of the home soon thereafter, which allegedly unearthed unspecified quantities of heroin and marijuana. The man and his son were taken into custody soon thereafter on suspicion of delivery of heroin, and authorities have advised that they could also face homicide charges.

When accused of drug crimes, many individuals may lack the necessary legal experience to know how to approach the situation. Prior to issuing a response to these allegations, a person may find it beneficial to consult with a defense attorney for guidance in making informed decisions. An attorney can help a client in Wisconsin gain a better understanding of the consequences he or she may face and assist in forming a strong defense for use during legal proceedings.
