Wisconsin man faces charges for sexual assault of 12-year-old

A 24-year-old Wisconsin man is facing sexual assault charges after his arrest on October 30. The man has been charged with two counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child.

According to police, the charges against the man stemmed from an investigation that began after investigators became aware that the man had allegedly sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl several times after meeting and communicating with her through several social media apps. Police state that the man reportedly made his initial contact with the girl through the apps, then began grooming her for the sexual assaults by sending her nude photos over the Internet. These photos were reportedly sent to her through social media apps, such as Snapchat, Whisper, Tinder and KiK.

During a subsequent interview with the man, police say that he reportedly indicated that he had participated in having sex with other minors at some point in the past and may have sexually assaulted other girls that were minors in both the Waukesha and Milwaukee areas.

Although the man was living in North Carolina until two months ago, he reportedly moved back to Wisconsin and then allegedly began having conversations with the girl through the social media apps at some point in September.

The man received a $25,000 cash bail and is expected to return to court on Nov. 3.

Defendants who are convicted of sex crimes against children may face serious damage to their reputations in both their professional and personal lives. An experienced Wisconsin criminal attorney may be able to work with a defendant and possibly help to provide a defense that may limit that damage.
