A 53-year-old Racine man is facing charges for allegedly attempting to give money to a 14-year-old girl so that she would have sexual activity with him. The charges against the man include two class D felonies that include, soliciting a child for prostitution and charges of child enticement.
According to court records, the charges stemmed from an incident that occurred December 23, 2013, when the girl reportedly went with the man to supposedly go Christmas shopping. Court documents state that the man allegedly stopped at an ATM to withdraw money, then told the girl several times that he wanted to ‘buy her’ and that he would pay to ‘hook up’ with her.
After telling the man that she wasn’t interested, documents state that they then went to the man’s home to wrap presents. During her visit with the man, he allegedly once again made his wishes known by trying to unbutton the coat she was wearing and putting $20 inside of her bra. The girl reportedly proceeded to push him away while slapping his hand. After telling him that she wasn’t interested once again, he drove the girl back to her home and allegedly told her to let him know if she changed her mind.
If convicted, the man could face up to 15 years of jail time along with a possible maximum fine of $100,000. The man’s bond was set at $5,000 cash.
Sex crimes against children can have serious consequences such as jail time and steep fines, as well as damage of reputation to a defendant’s personal and professional life.
