Wisconsin man charged with 3 counts in child sex crime

The West Allis, Wisconsin, husband of a woman who was killed in an automobile crash back in December during a snowstorm has been charged with three counts of causing a child to view or listen to sexual activity. Police say the 42-year-old man was arrested after the mother of a 14-year-old Texas teenager allegedly found videos of the man on her daughter's cellphone.

According to court documents, the woman contacted the Weslaco Police Department after checking the calls on the teenager's cellphone on Feb. 1. She had discovered that her daughter had reportedly had a three-hour conversation on the cellphone with a person named Michael that the mother was not familiar with. The mother then checked the cellphone's messenger application and reportedly discovered several videos of the man masturbating. A report posted online by CBS 58 News stated that the some of the videos allegedly contained images of the man fondling himself while whispering the teenager's name.

A subsequent interview with the woman's daughter revealed that the girl had met the man through a messaging application and had reportedly been chatting with the man. She had talked with him about the fact that he had four children and his wife was deceased. She also allegedly told police that she had mentioned to the man that she was 14 years of age.

The man remains in jail on $15,000 bail. If convicted, he could serve six years for each of the three counts.

Being charged with sex crimes such as causing a child to view or listen to sexual activity can cause damage to a defendant's reputation and could affect his or her personal and professional life. An experienced Wisconsin attorney may be able to assist in alleviating some of this damage by providing a strong criminal defense.
