White collar crimes: Man pleads not guilty to embezzlement

When a business feels as though certain amounts of revenue have been misplaced, it may wish to further investigate the matter. In some cases, a company may seek to place the blame on an employee, and a similar situation could leave a person facing allegations of white collar crimes. A man is reportedly facing criminal charges after he was accused of embezzling more than $25,000 while working at a golf course in Wisconsin.

Although many of the details remain unclear as to how the owners of the golf course came to believe the money had gone missing, they have accused a former manager of stealing a substantial sum. The man reportedly stands accused of erasing just under $19,000 worth of sales from a computer at the business. In addition, the owners also claim that he had taken an unspecified amount of money from cash deposit bags that were kept within the establishment overnight.

Following the investigation, the man's position as manager of the golf course has been terminated. Upon being questioned about the incident, the owners assert that the man asked about his options for repaying the debt. However, he has since been charged with embezzlement and has reportedly entered a plea of not guilty.

Upon being accused of white collar crimes of this nature, many individuals may wish to protect against undesirable consequences. Since this can be a complex process, a person in Wisconsin could find it beneficial to consult with a defense attorney early on. An attorney can examine the charges and evidence against a client and assist in pursuing the best outcome possible by forming a strong defense.
