Car trouble leads to drug crimes charges for Wisconsin woman

Breaking down on the side of the road can be a scary experience, especially late at night. Upon encountering a such a vehicle, authorities may approach with the intention of providing assistance, but the situation could turn into an investigation should they deem the actions of the occupants suspicious in any way. A 27-year-old woman in Wisconsin has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of drug crimes under similar circumstances.

Authorities claim the incident took place after officers encountered a vehicle that was parked on the shoulder of the interstate. The occupants reportedly informed police that they were waiting on a tow truck, and upon being asked for identification, police assert that both individuals stated that they weren't carrying their driver's licenses. They also claim that one of the occupants attempted to provide a false name.

Upon uncovering the identity of the woman, authorities allegedly learned that she was the subject of an active warrant. While being questioned, police also claim that she admitted to having a needle in her possession and stated that she had used methamphetamine earlier in the day. She was taken into custody soon thereafter and charged with possession of methamphetamine.

In addition to allegations of drug crimes, the woman also stands accused of attempting to mislead an officer. When confronted by authorities under similar circumstances, the average person may be uncertain how best to proceed. Since one's responses during questioning could have an impact on the situation, a person in Wisconsin could find it advisable to speak with an attorney for guidance in making informed decisions throughout every step of the process.
