Investigation leads to accusations of felony drug crimes for 2

When authorities are informed of the potential presence of drug activity, an investigation will generally ensue. Being the subject of such an investigation can be a stressful process, and without the necessary legal experience, an individual might be uncertain how to respond to the situation. Two individuals have been accused of felony drug crimes following a recent investigation that allegedly led to a traffic chase in Wisconsin.

According to authorities, the two individuals were the subject of a recent investigation that allegedly resulted in a police pursuit. They claim that each person was driving a separate vehicle during this period, and that one driver was brought to a halt after being rear-ended by a squad car while the other eventually crashed into a ditch. A search of the first vehicle allegedly uncovered the presence of more than 110 pounds of marijuana, while a search of the second allegedly unearthed as many as 180 pounds of marijuana.

No information was provided as to the nature of the information that led authorities to believe the vehicles were transporting illegal drugs. According to reports, each person is facing federal drug charges in relation to the incident. Similar charges carry serious consequences, and if convicted, each person could reportedly be facing anywhere from five to 40 years in federal prison.

Individuals who stand accused of felony drug crimes may wish to protect themselves against undesirable consequences, but they might be uncertain where to turn for guidance. Those who face such charges could benefit from speaking with a defense attorney for advice on how best to proceed. An attorney can evaluate the incident, along with the charges, and assist a client in Wisconsin in pursuing the most favorable outcome possible given the circumstances.
