Home visit leads to accusations of felony drug crimes for 2

It may not be uncommon for an individual to have numerous friends visit his or her home on a daily basis. However, if the visiting parties are suspected of involvement in drug activity, those inside the home could become subject to a criminal investigation. A recent search of a home in Wisconsin has reportedly led to the arrested of two individuals, each of whom stands accused of multiple drug crimes.

According to reports, the incident began when authorities were called out to the location to assist the local department of human services in a home visit. While at the home, authorities claim to have identified several visitors that were suspected of involvement in drug-related activity. A search of the home allegedly uncovered the presence of various types and amounts of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia, including marijuana and methamphetamine residue.

Police also assert that two individuals who were found inside the home were on probation for previous drug offenses. Both individuals were taken into custody soon thereafter, and each is facing felony charges in relation to the search. Felony drug charges carry severe consequences, and a conviction could lead to a lengthy prison term and a significant sum in fines, both of which can have a substantial impact on a person’s life.

With little experience in such matters, individuals who are accused of felony drug crimes may be uncertain of their legal rights and how to respond to allegations. Those who face similar circumstances may find it advisable to seek counsel from an attorney as soon as any charges are filed. An attorney in Wisconsin can help a client gain a better understanding of the circumstances he or she is facing and assist in pursuing the most favorable outcome achievable during subsequent legal proceedings.
