Overdose leads to accusations of drug crimes for Wisconsin man

When a drug overdose leads to the death of an individual, authorities may choose to further investigate the matter. Those who are accused of drug crimes under similar circumstances face severe consequences if a conviction is obtained. A 40-year-old man has been taken into custody and is facing numerous charges following the recent investigation into the overdose of another individual in Wisconsin.

According to authorities, the investigation was initiated following the death of a person who had allegedly overdosed on heroin. During this period, they claim to have uncovered evidence suggesting the man in question had supplied the other with an unspecified quantity of the drug. This led to a search of his residence, which allegedly uncovered the presence of numerous types and amounts of illegal narcotics, including heroin, methamphetamine and cocaine.

The man was arrested soon thereafter and is facing numerous drug-related charges in relation to the search. According to reports, he has also been charged with first-degree reckless homicide in relation to the overdose. Similar charges are serious in nature, and a conviction can carry consequences that could have a substantial impact on a person’s future, such as a lengthy prison term and a substantial amount in monetary fines.

Those accused of drug crimes of this nature may find it advisable to seek guidance before responding to the charges. By speaking with a defense attorney, an individual in Wisconsin could obtain some much-needed advice on making informed decisions throughout the process. An attorney can thoroughly examine the circumstances a client is facing and assist in forming a strong defense for use during subsequent legal proceedings.
