1 accused of drug crimes after allegedly leaving car in ditch

Being in a motor vehicle accident is never ideal, even if an individual manages to avoid suffering injuries in the process. However, the situation may only become more stressful and intimidating should the incident lead to allegations of drug crimes. A 40-year-old man has recently been arrested and is facing numerous charges after allegedly fleeing the scene of an accident and ditching his vehicle off the side of an interstate in Wisconsin.

Local authorities claim to have received reports at around 8 p.m. on a recent Saturday of a driver who was exhibiting erratic behavior while operating a vehicle without the use of headlights. They say the man had been involved in a pursuit prior to the reports, and that he had struck another vehicle before fleeing the scene. They assert the man was eventually located in a nearby residence, and appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

Upon being questioned, he allegedly admitted that he had left the car in a ditch off the interstate. After locating the vehicle, a search was initiated, which allegedly uncovered the presence of drug paraphernalia, along with a shotgun. He was taken into custody and is facing numerous charges in relation to the incident, including possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

The penalties for a conviction for drug crimes are severe, and those who face similar charges may find it beneficial to seek guidance as soon as possible. By consulting an experienced attorney, a client in Wisconsin could obtain advice on the potential consequences he or she may face, as well as assistance in forming a strong defense for use during legal proceedings. An attorney can work toward protecting a client’s legal rights and assist in pursuing the most favorable outcome achievable given the circumstances.
