Wisconsin man accused of sex crimes involving use of internet

The internet has made it much easier for people to communicate regardless of distance. While this may be considered beneficial in various ways, there are some apparent downsides. Chat rooms may have rules to govern conversations, but it may be impossible to enforce said rules in every situation. A Wisconsin man is facing charges for sex crimes following an alleged conversation with an underage girl.

Authorities claim that an undercover officer posed as a 15-year-old girl and began chatting with the man online. They claim that the conversations were sexual in nature, eventually leading to a proposed meeting between the two individuals. Upon arrival at the determined site, the man was arrested and charged with felony use of a computer to facilitate a sex crime with a minor. Authorities claim that upon being arrested the man admitted to struggling with a sexual addiction for multiple years.

Charges of this nature can impact a person’s life in multiple ways. Individuals who are convicted of a similar crime are required to register online as a sex offender, which presents various challenges on its own. When facing a similar circumstance, individuals may want to take care with what they say at the time of arrest, as these words can have an impact on the outcome of the situation.

When facing charges for sex crimes, individuals may want to seek legal counsel in the early stages of the process for advice on how to proceed. Many people in Wisconsin choose to speak with a defense attorney during this difficult period. An experienced attorney can evaluate a person’s current situation and advise him or her on the best course of action to take during such a challenging process.
