Milwaukee man charged with violent crimes after claims of attack

A Jan. 5 attack upon a Wisconsin store clerk resulted in the man’s death from repeated blows to the head with a baseball bat. Murder charges have been filed against the accused attacker, a 32-year-old Milwaukee man. Purported to have an outstanding warrant for other violent crimes at the time of the incident, he was arrested on Jan. 18 with bail set at $200,500.

A witness claims to have seen the victim first chasing the defendant with a baseball bat after accusing the man of attempted shoplifting at the B.P gas station where he was employed. The foot-chase by the clerk concluded when he threw the bat at the alleged attacker and demanded that he not return. The witness alleges that when the clerk turned his back to return to the gas station, the assailant picked up the bat and hit the man repeatedly in the head.

Investigators claim that the accused man said that he struck the victim with the bat only four times The witness claims to have seen eight blows delivered from behind. According to an autopsy, the man died from blunt force trauma. When taken into custody, the alleged assailant had an outstanding warrant for disorderly conduct and misdemeanor battery.

When violent crimes are alleged to have been committed, the presumption of innocence and the right to legal representation remain, no matter what the charges may be. Enlisting legal representation as quickly as possible can be key in defending against charges that will be prosecuted aggressively by the state. An attorney experienced in criminal defense in Wisconsin courtrooms can enable the client to receive the best possible outcome by building the strongest possible defense.
