Six people in Wisconsin are currently facing criminal charges for alleged drug-related activities. Accusations of drug crimes arose in light of a police raid that took place on a recent Tuesday morning. Officers apparently claimed to have a search warrant that initiated their entrance to a private residence.
Authorities say they seized many drug-related items after completing their search at the home. Two firearms, methamphetamine, more than 150 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were included in the list of seized objects. A 44-year-old man was arrested at the home and charged with various crimes, including marijuana possession with intent to distribute, drug delivery within 1,000 feet of a school and maintaining a drug house.
Five others who were allegedly at the house during the police raid were also arrested. Their situations involved supposed warrants and bond violations in unrelated incidents. Those defendants ranged in ages from 22 to 41.
Being accused of drug crimes in Wisconsin is obviously no laughing matter. Anyone accused of such crimes is advised to seek immediate and experienced defense assistance. In fact, many people contact a criminal attorney even before an arrest has taken place to prepare for the possibility by taking steps to build a strong defense should charges later be filed. Also, there are strict regulations regarding the search and seizure portions of an investigation; a defense lawyer may scrutinize an individual situation to determine whether any personal rights have been violated. When such appears to have been the case, a challenge to the state’s proposed evidence may be made in court.
