Milwaukee County ranks high in violent crime rate

How common is violent crime here in Milwaukee County? It appears that this class of crime is more prevalent in the county than in many other parts of the United States. This is what a recent set of rankings points to.

The rankings list the 30 counties in the country with the highest violent crimes rates, based on 2014 federal statistics. For the purposes of these statistics, violent crimes consist of four classes of offenses: aggravated assault, rape, robbery and non-negligent-manslaughter/murder. As a note, the rankings only include counties with populations exceeding 1,000.

Milwaukee County made the list, and was the only county in Wisconsin to do so. The county was found to have a violent crime rate of 997.1 crimes per every 100,000 residents. This rate gave it the number 17 spot on the list.

There are many effects having a high violent crime rate can have for a region. For one, it could lead to federal, state and local authorities trying to use new and/or intensified tactics in their violent crime enforcement in the region. Do you think, in the next few years, we will see new violent-crime-related law enforcement tactics here in Milwaukee County?

In criminal cases involving violent crime accusations, it can be very important to look closely at the tactics police used in their investigations in the case, whether those tactics be new or old. This is because different police tactics can raise different issues regarding whether the tactics were done in a proper manner and whether evidence resulting from the tactics can be used by the prosecution. Performing investigations and reviews of police tactics are one of the things experienced violence crime defense lawyers can do for defendants in violent crime cases.
