Racine man sentenced to prison for sexual assault of teenage girl

A 19-year-old Racine man is facing ten years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of second degree sexual assault and one count of false imprisonment. The man was initially charged back in January with one count each of false imprisonment and suffocation and strangulation, along with three counts of second degree sexual assault.

The charges against the man stemmed from an incident that reportedly occurred on Jan. 23, 2014, around 1 a.m. after a 17-year-old girl came to visit the man at his home under the pretense of watching movies with the man and “hanging out.” According to court documents, when the girl arrived at the man’s home, however, he allegedly attacked her while she was at the back gate of the house and then forcibly led her downstairs to the basement. Court records state that after securing her head and arms with duct tape and placing duct tape across her mouth, he then allegedly proceeded to rape her two different times during the encounter and made her perform oral sex on him.

Although the assistant district attorney pursuing the case initially asked for between 13 and 15 years in prison, records state that the judge took the recommendation of a probation agent who was recommending 10 to 11 years in prison. In addition to the time the man will serve, he must also register for life as a convicted sex offender upon his release.

Defendants who are facing charges for sexual assault may find it beneficial to seek the advice of an experienced Wisconsin criminal attorney.
