Wisconsin man faces 40 years for child porn with young girls

A 26-year-old man who pleaded guilty back in April for underage pornography is facing a 40 year federal prison sentence for allegedly making pornographic images of four young girls who reportedly were between the ages of 2 and 3 years of age. The man will also have to live the rest of his life under supervision upon his release.

The charges against the man stemmed from an incident that occurred on Aug. 1, 2013, when the man forgot his phone at a gas station and left it sitting on the checkout counter. According to court documents, a woman who was standing in line behind him reportedly attempted to catch up with the man to give him his phone back, but was unable to do so. The woman then took the phone home with her and allegedly opened it a few days later in an attempt to locate the phone’s owner. Federal prosecutors say that when she did so, the woman saw the images of the girls and contacted the police.

Police were later able to locate the man that same day and during a discussion, the man allegedly told police that the girls were the children of parents who he had become friends with and that the parents left the girls in his care. Police state that the man would then photograph the girls.

During a subsequent search of the man’s computer, additional images were found by police. Although the case originally began with prosecutors handling the case in state court, that case was eventually dismissed so that the charges could be pursued at a federal level.

Defendants who face underage pornography charges might benefit from working with an experienced criminal attorney who may be able to assist defendants by providing them with a strong criminal defense.
