Wisconsin man charged in sex trafficking case

A 31-year-old Wisconsin man has been charged in a federal court in North Dakota, with coercion or enticement. The charges stemmed from an incident that began in April after a woman told Sheboygan police that the man was keeping three girls against their will and forcing them to work as prostitutes.

According to an FBI affidavit, more information came to light about the man in early June after an attorney from Chicago told the FBI that the daughter of a family friend had contacted his wife on Facebook, reportedly telling her that she had been drugged by the man and then forcibly taken to another state.

The woman entered a rehabilitation facility in May after her family aided in her escape. On June 2, she contacted the family of the attorney and told them that she was not sure of where she was, nor could she remember what had happened over the previous two days.

According to court documents, the woman was subsequently found by the FBI on June 9. She reportedly told agents that she had smoked something before waking up in a car. She stated that she was sexually assaulted by the man and was forced to work as a prostitute and give him the money she made.

The FBI began tracking the man across the state and reportedly located him in a hotel on June 18 after a police officer saw his car. He arrested after he came out of his hotel room that afternoon. A detention hearing and preliminary hearing have been scheduled in the case for June 26.

Sex trafficking charges are extremely serious. An experienced Wisconsin criminal attorney may be able to assist defendants who are accused of sex trafficking and can work with them on a solid criminal defense case.
