100 mph chase leads to arrest of Wisconsin man

A 22-year-old Milwaukee man is facing multiple charges after leading Racine County sheriff’s deputies on a 100 mph car chase that ended with the man fleeing on foot after he drove his vehicle into a ravine. Charges against the man include possession of drug paraphernalia, fleeing and eluding and recklessly endangering safety.

The charges stemmed from an alleged incident that began around lunchtime on Sunday, June 8, after a Racine County sheriff’s deputy pulled over the man’s vehicle as he was going northbound on I-94. According to the sheriff’s office, the man reportedly stopped his vehicle, but he allegedly fled the scene in his car after the deputy asked him if there were drugs in the vehicle. The deputy was awaiting the arrival of the K-9 drug unit.

The subsequent high speed chase reportedly led officers into Milwaukee County, where they were assisted by the Oak Creek Police Department and Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office. The man then allegedly proceeded with an attempt to allude police by continuing on foot after plunging his vehicle into the ravine around 12:33 p.m. He was later taken into custody by Racine County sheriff’s deputies after he was discovered hiding behind a residence located in the vicinity of Puetz Road.

Drug crimes such as possession of drug paraphernalia could potentially have serious consequences for a defendant, especially when other charges are involved, such as fleeing and eluding police officers and recklessly endangering safety. An experienced Wisconsin criminal attorney could work to help a defendant establish a strong legal defense, providing a better chance for a positive outcome.
