Wisconsin couple arrested for allegedly transporting Ecstasy

A 22-year-old man and his wife, also 22, are facing multiple drug charges. These include maintaining a drug trafficking vehicle, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of THC. In addition, the husband also faces a second and subsequent charge for possession of THC as well as two counts on a felony bail jumping charge.

The charges against the couple stem from a May 7 incident after a Rock County Sheriff’s deputy pulled over the couple’s vehicle for a traffic stop after receiving a tip from another law enforcement agency. Police officials say that they were notified that a large shipment of MDMA, which is a drug also known by the street name Ecstasy, was allegedly scheduled to be transported by the couple to a spot in Rock County near the vicinity of West Airport Road and South Interstate 51.

Police state that during a search of the couple’s vehicle, they allegedly discovered 32 ounces of Ecstasy with a street value of $32,000 along with eight grams of marijuana. A subsequent search of a storage unit in Janesville at the Crosby Avenue Self Storage also reportedly revealed a type of packing material that is commonly used for selling illegal drugs.

Traffic stops that result in an arrest for drug possession and drug trafficking can have serious consequences for a defendant. These consequences can potentially include a lengthy prison sentence and steep fines. An experienced Wisconsin criminal attorney may be able to assist a defendant and attempt to help get a reduction in these types of charges.
