A 23-year-old man from Milwaukee who allegedly led police on an automobile and foot chase after realizing he was part of a police drug sting faces multiple drug charges, including four of delivery of heroin.
According to court documents, the charges stemmed from a series of incidents that occurred from April through May in which the man allegedly sold heroin on three separate occasions to an undercover deputy from Ozaukee County.
Police state that on May 9, the man and the deputy were in the process of conducting a fourth drug transaction when the man was confronted by the Ozaukee County Anti-Drug Task Force, but he was already back inside his vehicle. The man then allegedly drove away from the scene and headed south on Interstate 43 before exiting on Good Hope Road, where he continued westbound until losing control of the vehicle.
According to police, the man proceeded to flee on foot. At one point, he allegedly entered a vehicle and ordered the driver to give him a ride. However, the driver was able to eject him from the car. The man then once again took off on foot and was apprehended by River Hills police after attempting to flee through several yards. A subsequent search of the man’s rented vehicle allegedly turned up a substance suspected to be heroin.
The man remains behind bars in Ozaukee County Jail on $75,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on May 22.
Defendants who are charged with drug crimes such as delivery of heroin could face a lengthy prison sentence if they are convicted. An experienced Wisconsin criminal attorney may be able to help provide defendants with a defense that could help to reduce these types of charges.
