Wisconsin man faces multiple charges for possession of child porn

A U.S. Navy recruiter is behind bars after being arrested on multiple charges for possession of underage pornography. The 35-year-old La Crosse man was arrested Jan. 9 after a search of his home revealed alleged underage pornography on a computer at his residence.

Police first began investigating the Navy recruiter on Jan. 2 after the parents of a 15-year-old boy expressed concerns about the man’s contact with their son to the Onalaska High School principal. Police have stated that the Navy recruiter and the boy first allegedly met at the school when the man visited there to recruit students from the high school who might be interested in joining the Navy.

During a joint interview with police investigators and a Navy lieutenant, the boy stated that he had initially met the man at school. He later became friends with him on Facebook after the Navy recruiter began following the boy’s Twitter account.

When questioned about his involvement with the boy, the man initially denied an interest in young boys. After a search of his computer revealed a variety of sexually graphic images of young males; however, records show he allegedly stated to investigators that it was possible he may have looked on the Internet for photos of young boys just to see what types of photos he might find.

Possession of underage pornography is a serious matter that could result in a severe jail sentence along with a lifetime of registering on the sex offender registry. An experienced criminal attorney may be able to provide legal assistance, while ensuring that a defendant’s rights are protected while the case moves through the legal system.
