A Milwaukee man allegedly engaged in a scheme to defraud the state's Medicaid program appeared in Milwaukee County Circuit Court August 14. According to a criminal complaint, he submitted claims for payments for orthotic purposes under the provision of durable medical equipment.

Man charged with fraud for false funeral expenses claim

A Milwaukee, Wisconsin, man was charged with one count of Medicaid fraud, one count of forgery, one count theft and charges for several other federal crimes after the man was accused of impersonating a funeral director. According to the report, the man allegedly attempted to defraud the Wisconsin Medicaid program by falsely claiming funeral expenses.

Man sentenced to probation following drug conviction

A 23-year-old Wisconsin man was sentenced to probation for three years for felony delivering THC and felony possession of narcotic drugs. Police allegedly evicted the man from a Wisconsin Dells motel in July 2012 after employees complained of the smell of marijuana emanating from his room. Authorities say that further investigation of the non-smoking room revealed extensive damage they believed to be consistent with narcotics usage.

Man sentenced to two years in prison on drug trafficking charges

A Wisconsin man received a two-year prison sentence on Aug. 5 after being convicted on drug trafficking charges. The 30-year-old man pleaded no contest to all charges, which consisted of four counts of felony delivery of heroin and cocaine. Several other felony charges were dismissed. He was taken into custody after allegedly being involved in 11 different monitored drug-buys over a two month period in 2012.

Woman charged with fraud agrees to pay restitution

Wisconsin residents may be interested to learn that an Arizona woman was charged with fraud after allegedly paying two parents to claim that their children were attending her daycare. As a result, she was able to bill the State of Wisconsin for more than $20,000 for their care. She submitted a plea.

Sexual Crimes and Criminal Defense

Over 60 charges of sexual misconduct have been filed on a Wisconsin man, relating to second-degree sexual assault and capturing images of nudity without consent. A federal charge also faces this man for underage pornography by using a 17-year old girl in his photography. In response to these charges, his criminal defense lawyer has pleaded not guilty on his behalf. Court hearings proceed in early September to further delve into the case.
