1 facing multiple sex crimes after allegedly enticing a minor

The internet offers a certain ease of access for those who are seeking to connect with others online. Countless individuals might have found a friendship or relationship through similar channels, perhaps with someone who they did not physically meet for months. However, there may also some risks involved with the anonymity of similar outlets, some of which can lead to criminal allegations. A 31-year-old man has recently been accused of using the internet to facilitate sex crimes in Wisconsin.

Authorities claim that the man had been speaking with a person, who he allegedly believed to be a 15-year-old girl, for several months through the internet. They say an undercover officer was posing as the young girl and claims that the conversations were sexual in nature, and that the man requested to meet with her. According to police, he drove to a set location on a recent Monday and was apprehended upon arrival.

In addition to being accused of using the internet to facilitate a child sex crime, they also claim that a search of his home and phone unearthed pornographic images of children. Charges of this nature carry severe penalties that can be life-altering if a conviction is obtained. When questioned by authorities, he allegedly admitted to being attracted to minors.

Facing accusations for sex crimes can be a stressful and intimidating process, and responding to allegations before obtaining legal counsel may be inadvisable. When facing similar charges, a person in Wisconsin will often retain the services of an attorney in the initial stages of the process. A defense attorney can examine the charges against a client, provide advice on the potential outcome and assist in forming a strong defense for use during court proceedings.
