3 men, 1 woman suspected of drug crimes in Wisconsin

The new year might not have gone exactly as planned for three men and one woman in Wisconsin. On a recent Thursday, police in Marshfield placed them all under arrest. The incident was part of a drug crimes investigation that had been ongoing since November 2016.

The Marshfield Police Chief said all four arrests were conducted after a home was searched. In such situations, police cannot randomly enter a person’s home and start hunting for things; typically, they must first obtain a valid search warrant. The defendants range in ages from 22 to 32. Those arrested are now facing various criminal charges.

They’ve been charged with maintaining a drug trafficking place. Charges also include possession of marijuana and methamphetamine, as well as bail jumping. No details were provided regarding any scheduled court hearings or whether the defendants have retained attorneys. One thing is certain, the penalties if convicted of such crimes can be quite severe. Many who have been convicted in the past have gone to prison for extended lengths of time, and have also faced substantial fines.

Facing drug crimes charges in Wisconsin is serious business. A person’s freedom may be at stake, not to mention the negative effects such circumstances often have on families. Of course, not everyone accused of such crimes is convicted. Much typically depends on the type of defense one is able to present in court. An attorney who has successfully battled against prosecutors for others in similar situations understands how to maximize available options in an effort to achieve the best possible outcome.
