JON'S CELL: A campus university in Wisconsin was the scene of a recent altercation between one person who claims to have been defending an injured assault victim and another person suspected of the attack. Reportedly, the latter committed sex crimes on campus against a fellow student. The situation unfolded as somewhat of an irony, as it occurred just two days after an on-campus protest against sexual assault.
An 18-year-old male has been arrested and now faces several very serious charges. In addition to second degree sexual assault, charges against the young man also include disorderly conduct, false imprisonment and battery. The incident is said to have occurred on a recent Thursday evening at approximately 8 p.m. in a residence hall.
A female student said the freshman had held her against her will and then strangled and sexually assaulted her in his room. Another person, who apparently noticed the young woman in distress after she allegedly fled the male student’s room, confronted the suspect. The accused reportedly tried to punch the bystander and caused damage to a mirror and other property in the room.
Wisconsin University administrators placed the student accused of sex crimes on emergency suspension from school. A spokesperson stated this decision was made based on the severity of the allegations against the young man. What typically occurs following this type of arrest is that a defendant requests a meeting with an experienced criminal attorney to discuss possible outcomes and begin building a defense that may help obtain positive results in court.
