Wisconsin bus driver faces child porn charges

A 53-year-old school bus driver from West Allis, Wisconsin, has been charged with two counts of possession of underage pornography. The charges against the man stemmed from an incident in which special agents with the Wisconsin Department of Justice allegedly discovered a computer or other type of internet-capable device that was allegedly making an offer to participate in distributing underage pornography over a peer-to-peer file sharing online.

According to court documents, during the investigation the computer’s IP address was allegedly traced to the man’s home located in West Allis. Records state that agents then initially performed surveillance on the man’s residence until obtaining a search warrant, which was executed on the premises on Aug. 20.

At that time, agents reportedly recovered a laptop computer that allegedly contained two video files containing pornographic images of children. During an initial interview with the man, officials state that the man denied using the Internet for the purpose of obtaining adult pornography and stated that he did not visit websites for fear of his computer receiving a virus. He also said that he was not aware of any underage pornography that may have been found on the laptop in his home.

During a subsequent interview, however, the man admitted that he did use file sharing, but stated that it was only for music. He further stated that it was possible that he had accidentally downloaded the underage pornography in an attempt to download the music.

Defendants accused of an internet crime such as possession of underage pornography could face severe penalties if convicted of these serious charges. An experienced Wisconsin criminal attorney can assist defendants who are charged with these types of crimes.
