JON'S CELL: A 51-year-old Dane County man has been charged with attempted second-degree sexual assault of a child and using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime. The charges stemmed from an April 18 incident in which the man traveled to a residence in Racine County to allegedly meet with someone he thought was a 15-year-old boy for the purpose of having sex. The young boy, however, was actually an undercover investigator for the Racine County Sheriff’s Department.
According to court documents, the investigator reportedly made contact with the defendant after noticing an ad that he had placed on Craigslist. The ad allegedly mentioned that he was an older daddy-like figure looking to meet up with what he referred to as a “young twink.”
Upon further correspondence with the man, the investigator reported that the two had discussed oral sex and using a liquid aphrodisiac known as a “popper.” The defendant allegedly drove to the Racine County residence under the pretense of meeting with the boy, but was met by investigators instead. During a subsequent search of the man, investigators found two vials of “poppers” along with a bag containing personal lubricant and condoms.
The man currently remains behind bars on a $10,000 cash bond. As a condition of his bond, he has been ordered to have no contact with children and cannot access the Internet or own a smartphone. He is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on April 30.
