Racine man could face 403 1/2 years for child sex crimes

A 26-year-old Racine man who police say allegedly sexually assaulted an 11-year-old boy, is facing multiple criminal charges, including first-degree sexual assault of a child, exposing a child to harmful material, sexual exploitation of a child, child enticement, using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, and 10 counts of possession of underage pornography. The charges stemmed from an investigation by the DCI Internet Crimes Against Children after they became aware that pornographic images of children were allegedly being transmitted over the Internet from inside the man's West Lawn Avenue residence.

According to police documents, a search warrant executed on the man's home reportedly revealed 131 digital individual images of young naked boys and five videos containing recordings of sexual acts committed by juvenile boys. A pair of children's underwear was also allegedly recovered from the scene.

During a subsequent interview, investigators were reportedly told by the man that he had watched over the 11-year-old a number of times earlier in the month. According to The Journal Times, he allegedly told investigators that he had wanted to teach the boy about sexual activities, so he had taken the boy to a room in his basement to "educate" him. He also reportedly admitted to taking photographs of the boy wearing underwear while asleep and watching adult pornography on his desktop with the boy in attendance.

According to the Racine County Eye, the man was issued a cash bond in the amount of $75,000. If convicted, he could face a life sentence in prison since the maximum penalty for the accumulated charges comes to 403.5 years in prison.

Using the Internet for crimes against children can have serious consequences for a defendant. An experienced Wisconsin attorney may be able to help reduce those charges and could assist in providing a good legal defense.
