Being arrested for a sex crime in Wisconsin can have serious repercussions. Even without a conviction, a charge can permanently damage a person's reputation, affecting any future job employment opportunities as well. A conviction may also require registration on a sex offender registry as well as penalties such as prison time.
Recently, a Wisconsin teenager was arrested after an investigation revealed that he was using an internet website to solicit images from girls. The family of a young girl told law enforcement about the teenager after he sent them an image of their daughter.
According to the report, the teenager met girls online and got them to send him provocative pictures of themselves. He convinced them to send him more photos or else he would send the initial pictures to their families. All this was done over an internet site that allows filesharing.
After the girl's family came forward, investigators searched the teenager's home near Milwaukee and found more photos of girls on his computer. There is no information as to how many images were found, but investigators believe that the girls are from all over the country.
The teenager is being charged with multiple crimes, including possession of underage pornography. As this post mentioned earlier, these are tough charges. If this teenager is convicted of these charges, he may have to serve a lengthy prison sentence. Additionally, a conviction will likely land his name on the sex offender registry.
It is unclear with whether the teen has any legal counsel to represent him, but his court appearance is next month.
