With so many advances in technology in the past few years, there are few individuals who do not use the internet to find information or do work. With so many people on the internet, law enforcement has taken a greater interest towards internet crimes: illegal activity done over the internet.
There are several internet crimes that are more widely known. One of the more reported internet crimes is Underage Pornography. In Wisconsin, possessing Underage Pornography is against the law and can result in severe penalties. One Wisconsin man was recently arrested and charged with possession of Underage Pornography.
Earlier this week, two law enforcement departments issued two search warrants in search of property that indicated possession of underage pornography. At one residence, law enforcement agents were told by two people living there that the third resident was the one who they were looking for. The agents then took two laptops from the home.
The third resident was located at a different house. There is no indication that the officers arrested the man at that point. But according to the complaint, sometime later the man admitted to possessing underage pornography by downloading it from the internet. Police confirmed that there were pornographic images and videos on the two laptops.
The man is being charged with multiple counts of possession of underage pornography and could spend a long time in prison if convicted of each count. Child pornography convictions have serious consequences that will affect this man's future. If convicted, the man may have to register as a sex offender, further damaging his ability to live a normal life.
